By Brian Gramolini
I was trying to get ahead of the game last week by writing Sunday's post in advance, and I forgot to include Paul Ficalora's hole-in-one. Paul aced the 7th hole on Saturday for our club's second hole-in-one of the season. Congrats Paul!
It's Memorial Day weekend, which means everyone's favorite Par 3 is back for the summer. Please use the Summer tee sets to determine Playing Handicaps and for posting scores. If I'm feeling nice after Saturday's round, I may give a free pass to those who forget.
Nine teams remain in this year's tournament. Three matches are scheduled for Saturday, which will bring the total down to six. Full bracket linked below.
Ron Sanossian sent in a writeup of his match from Saturday. I'll include that in Sunday's post.
Back to ContentsThe weeklies for May 18 were N.O.S.E. and T and F. Matt Schumacher scored 23 points on holes 1, 6, 7, 8, 9, 11, 16, 17, and 18 to win the N.O.S.E. prize. There was a tie for the T and F top spot, with Brian Gramolini and Jimmy Murphy scoring 22 points on the holes not mentioned earlier. To show I'm an honest person, Jimmy had the better back nine, so he wins this week's prize by way of tiebreaker.
The spreadsheet below includes all of the scores and results from this season. As a reminder, only hole-by-hole scores posted for the date played are included in the results. Players not posting using the hole-by-hole method or not posting by the end of the day on Saturday are not eligible for weeklies or Saxon Cup points.
This week we go back to front and back nine. Best (net) Stableford score on the nine selected holes will win Pro Shop credit. You can only win once each week.
Back to ContentsMatt Schumacher jumps into the top spot after having the best Stableford score last week. The big movers this week were, Jimmy Murphy jumping up 11 spots to third, John Power moving up 12 spots to ninth and Al Fricchione climbing 13 spots to 28th.
Full standings at the link below. As a reminder, points for Majors will be awarded once a player has completed the event.
Back to ContentsMembers should be using the GHIN or MGA mobile apps to calculate Playing Handicaps for Saxony rounds.
Back to ContentsToday's thunderstorms helped break the heat from earlier in the week. We should have great weather for Memorial Day weekend; any threat of rain won't show until the afternoon.
