Match kicked off at 5:40 with John and Dennis wining the first two holes (maybe Ron and Bud were not awake yet). Ron awoke to to make "tap-in" pars on 3 and 4 to even the match. John had a 5 for a 4 on 5 to regain the lead, Dennis parred #7 to restore the 2 hole lead. Bud had a 6 for a 5 on 8 to cut the lead back to one, the turn was made with John and Dennis up one. Scores for the front nine were none to stellar with a low of 47 and a high of 49. John started the back nine with 5 straight 4's which was matched by Ron going bogey, birdie, par birdie so after 13 the John and Dennis were still up one. John's 5th straight 4 on 14 stretched the lead back to 2. Ron hit a monster drive on 15 leading to a par to bring the match back to one going into 16 and the all important tie breaker holes. The adrenaline must have been pumping as John and Dennis both went long on 16 with Ron being pin high but off the right edge and Bud going just right of the bunker. John and Dennis had good lag putts, bud chipped on to the green but leaving a long par putt, Ron then proceeded to chunk his chip but almost saved par with a putt that missed by inches on the high side. John and Dennis' lead was now 2 going into 17 with everyone getting a stroke from Ron. Bud's 5 (net 4) was no match for John's 4 (net 3) and the match having never been separated by more than 2 holes was decided 3 and 1. Back nine scores were much better than the front with John and Ron shooting 38 and 41 respectively.
