Back to ContentsSince I was present for it, I can give you a first hand account of the match between the Gramolinis and Jim Andruss and Matt Schumacher. Matt and Jim needed a hole to warm up, giving Tom and I the chance to pick up a quick lead on the first. After pars all around on the second, I knocked a chip in close to save par and Matt and Jim missed the chance to halve the third. On the fourth, Matt and Jim both settled their second shots in gimmie range, but I knocked in a 15-footer for birdie to extend the Gramolini lead to 3. All three players getting a stroke on 5 made bogey, and then we would trade wins on 6 and 7 before halving the last two holes of the front nine and the tenth hole. Matt turned it on over the next three holes with birdies on 11, 12 and 13. Tom made biride on 13 to prevent the match from getting to tied. Tom's biridie on 13 kicked off a string of 6 straight fours, with the Gramolinis closing out the match on 17.
