Semifinals
#13 T. Gramolini over #1 Hertz, 1-up: Tom won 4 of the first 6 holes and only conceeded the 1st. Steve won 7 and 8 to only trail by 1 at the turn. The back was pretty even, with Steve getting it back to even on 15. Tom's par on the Postage Stamp gave him the edge, and halves on the last two sent him to finals.
#3 Acuti over #2 Wolfe, 5 & 4: Mark went out with 2 bogies and 7 pars, and jumped out to a quick 5-hole lead. Bob stopped the bleeding for a hole with a birdie on the 7th, but it wasn't enough. The match was dormie after 13, and a half on 14 ended it.
Finals - #3 Mark Acuti vs. #13 Tom Gramolini
Both players were carrying a single digit Handicap Index into the match, with Mark having the lower of the two players. Tom would be getting 3 strokes in the match, which would prove decisive later on.
Tom opened the match with par-par-bogey, and Mark's double-bogey-bogey saw him trailing by 3 right out of the gate. Matching pars on 4 stopped the bleeding for a moment, but Tom bested Mark on holes 5 and 6 to open up the lead to 5. The two would match scores on holes 7 and 8, but one of those 3 strokes Tom was getting came into play, as Tom extended his lead to 6. Mark would par the ninth to shrink the lead to 5 at the turn.
Mark opened the inward nine with 3 pars, and Tom could only match him on 11 and 12. The two would match bogeys on the 13th, but Tom was getting a stroke here and the match was now dormie with 5 to go. Mark would then win 14, 15, and 16, getting the match to 2 with 2 to play. Tom would go on to par the 17th, and Mark could only settle for a half.
Tom wins his second major of the season and the second Presdients Cup of his career. Well done!

The Presidents Cup 2015
Jermey Goldberg successfully defended his President's Cup title, edging out Jonathan Leopold in the final round.Jonathan's path to the finals included wins over Al Fricchione, Bruce Greenberg and Rob Cohlan. Jeremy took down Henry Mueller, Ed Zimmerman and top-seeded Peter Ennis on his way to the championship match.
The championship was a heated contest, with neither man refusing to yield. Neither player was able to win a hole until 18, where Jeremy prevailed by holing out from the fairway. (Author's note: I did not see the card from the final, so this might be slightly exaggerated).
Congratulations to our repeat President's Cup champion, Jeremy Goldberg.

The 2014 President's Cup
tournament concluded with a very close final round. In the

Jeremy
Goldberg out lasted Steve Hertz through 21 holes of play.
The regulation 18 holes were extremely tight with only one lead of 2UP and no one ever winning more than two holes in a row. Both players started tentatively, each losing one of the first two holes with a big number. Then Jeremy won two of the next three, including a nice par (with a stroke) on #5. Steve erased that lead by immediately winning the next two holes and they were all square after 7. They pushed #8 and #9 to end the front tied. Steve opened the back with a par on #10, but Jeremy came back to win #12. Tied again.
A push on #12 and then Jeremey once more came up with a 5 on a par 5 to go 1UP after 13. Steve bounced right back with a win on #14 to tie the match. Then Hertz parred #16 for win and was 1Up with 2 to play. I didn't see them play #17, but I would have loved to. Under some real pressure Jeremy squeaked out a natural par to win the hole and tie the match. That would have been fun to see.

They pushed #18 to end regulation All Square. Two playoff holes later, they were still tied. Finally, playing #10, Steve got into trouble and Jeremy took advantage. Congratulations to our new President's Cup Champion, Jeremy Goldberg.
