The 2012 Club Championship
Congratulations Andy Eisenberg
First Larry McNaughton put his name
on the
Saxony Club Wall of Champions by outplaying Joe Valenti in the B
Flight.
Then Bob Wolfe bested Tom Condon in the C Flight. The 36
hole Finals in our Open & A Flight Championships finished up
the following week
- summary below. These links are for the draws.
Open A Flight B Flight C Flight
James Walsh arrived early enough this morning to hit some balls, not having touched a club in two weeks. Five minutes on the range was enough to discourage him from more practice and he moved to the first tee to face his fate. He brought a 3Up lead from last week, but didn't take much comfort in it. And Chris Paul came to play - winning three holes on the front - but James won four. So by the turn James was up four and after winning both #11 and #12 with pars had the match in hand. Congratulations to James Walsh, our new A Champion.
In the Open flight a tight two round contest went 33 holes. Conor started the day 1Up after Thursday's opening round. Andy quickly tied it up with a par on #2 and they stayed close for ten holes. All square on the 12th tee and Andy hit the gas. Winning three in a row he opened up the largest lead of the match. Conor got one back on #15 to be down two on the 16th tee. Andy put his tee shot on the front of the green, while Conor missed wide right. When Conor missed the up/down Andy had two putts to win. Below is his birdie attempt to close out the match:
