First EZ Reserve This Saturday

Let's Play Golf

Current News & Conditions

This is it.  Week 1.  The first Saturday of our extended EZ Reserve season.  If you haven't been out yet this year, you're in for a treat.  The course has been cleaned up beautifully.  The fairways are dry.  The greens have been rolled.  Our new Manager, Mike Belmont has the place in top shape.  Get out there and play.

First tee time this weekend is almost pre-dawn - 6:30.  Check the Tee Times page for your group's start.  Whenever that is, it's time to get loose and swing easy. (And to sign up for Opening Day Scramble, if you haven't already).

Don't forget to check in for "Tweets From the 1st Tee" which will be updated first thing Saturday with news from the Starter's Shack.

Opening Day Business

April 16

As discussed at the Annual Meeting (aka lunch at Molly's March 5th) Andy would like to poll the members on two topics - Club Organization and Financial Surplus.  Andy asks that you consider the options below and be prepared to vote/discuss after your round on April 16.

  • Club Organization
Recommendation - operate under current by laws for this season.  Gather input throughout year on changes.

  • Financial Surplus
Vote on uses of our accumulated surplus.  Vote "Yes" (rank first and second choice) or "No."  Ideas proposed so far:
- Sponsoring Opening & Closing Day luncheons (est $1,000 each, partial?)
- Plaque listing past champions (to be posted conspicuously)
- Trophies for future winners
- Saxony Logo gear - Bag Tags, Shirts, Accessories...
- Gift for outgoing President & Treasurer (ideas?, honorary membership,...)
- Rebate on dues - all equally? pro-rated on years of membership?
- Charitable Support - 1st Tee Program, sponsorship of amateur event...
- Support of Course - contribution to improvement of Mike's choice, yardages...
- Rules Lecture

Seen on the Course

March 26

Not everyone plays the early weeks - and we all know why.  Still some were out there for 18 holes in 20 degrees.  They were rewarded with extra roll on the drives, high bounces on the greens and extra teeth on the rakes.

brrrrr

Greg, Price, Pete, Guido, Antony, Gramolini and Cook have vowed "Never Again."
 We'll see.
