The President's Cup: Tom Gramolini
The Most Prestigious Major
And then there were two:
Tom Gramolini and Fred Appel. On Saturday we were
treated to great match with both players shooting
excellent rounds; net 68 and
69. The championship was decided by the final putt on 18 in
front of a gallery of 15 admirers (okay, appreciative hecklers).
It doesn't get much better than that.
In our never ending effort to bring you the action we have two new features:
See The Card click on title to follow the hole-by hole scoring in this see saw battle. See Tom's 3 birdies and Freddy's steady pars. See the lead go back and forth. See it all come down to one putt - and then view the video.
See The Action courtesy of our club videographer, Joe Valenti, who captured the dramatic, on-green action at 17 and 18. Below are the key putts from those final two holes. See Freddy on 17 drop an 8 footer for par - will he go one up or stay even? Gramolini putts from 7' to halve the hole. Then on 18, after blasting out of the bunker, Freddy has a 20 footer to win it all. See Gramolini's knees shake over his last stroke for the whole enchilada. Fun. We'll get Joe a better camera next time, but not bad for a first effort.
