I Missed You
Aug 20th
What Happened Out There? Instead of driving into the trees of Saxon Woods, I spent Saturday driving my daughter to College. At least at Saxon I can escape with a par. This time I returned empty handed - much tougher.
So I turn it over to you to provide reports of play for the weekend - the comments section has returned below. Please let your fellow golfers know how the matches went, what you saw, heard, felt and of course, how the turkeys are doing.
Sorry I didn't get to play with you. It really changes the feel of a week not to be there on Saturday - next time. This Week At A Glance

Charlie T42 in Met Open
Follow Our Pro
Charlie made the cut by shooting
72-73 and finishing the second round T35. Unfortunately a final round
75 slipped him to a T42 finish. His most interesting hole seems to have
been the 13th, which he never parred - bogie, birdie, double.
Heck, sounds like he's been spending too much time with us.

The Met Open Championship sponsored by MetLife is the third-oldest open championship in the country. At one time it was considered one of the Majors along with the U.S. Open and Western Open. Previous winners include Gene Sarazen, Walter Hagen, Tommy Armour, Byron Nelson and Claude Harmon. This year Charlie Meola has also qualified.
The 96th playing is set for Tuesday, August 23 through Thursday, August 25 at Sleepy Hollow Country Club in Scarborough. Charlie and other area pros as well as some amateurs will be playing for a $150,000 purse—the largest in the Met Area—of which $27,500 goes to the winner. It's a 54-hole championship, which includes a cut after 36 holes to the low 60 and ties, begins with a 144-man field. Also representing Saxon Woods will be 2010-’11 Yale University golf team captain Tom McCarthy, playing as an amateur (Tom unfortunately didn't make the cut).
