Exactly the way it should end: on a high note. A beautiful crisp day with enough chill to let us know we were into another season and enough sun to soak into an aching back. 48 intrepid golfers went round avoiding a couple snow piles, babying our putts and coddling a yellow ball.  

It was a great event right from the start: Andy greeted us with coffee and breakfast treats to consume the 45 minute frost delay.  After mementos of hats and towels we faced the event photographer(!) and slapped an ice pellet down the first fairway.  Bill Lydon's photographs are up (here) Sunday afternoon (Bill had some frost vs camera issues, so supply was limited).

Tournament results are up on the Fall Classic page, but winners in the Best Ball were Hamerslough, Paul, Price and Shearman with an amazing 59.  Four groups brought home the yellow ball - top of the bunch were Cook, Sakala, McEvoy and Schimoler.

Lunch, beer and an awful lot of high volume, good-natured chaos followed.  Raffle prizes (Antony won a sippy cup!) were awarded, including a sweet Nike stand bag that had Ron Sanossian beaming (nice swag, Andy).  The din subsided while Andy wrapped up the year with presentations to the 2011 major winners and an emotional call to camaraderie.  
Elections followed as the sun fell and the wintery chill returned.  Truly a wonderful way to end the season - if there is such a thing.

Many of us will continue playing beyond this reasonable end, but to the rest of you; thanks for a great year.  Hope to see you in Molly's and certainly in the spring.
